Registration Information for the 2020-21 School Year

*Due to counselors not being in their offices during the registration window, parent appointments cannot be accommodated. Students should talk with their counselor about any questions/concerns.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR CURRENT FUSD STUDENTS/FAMILIES:

  1.  Current 11th Graders:

    1. 1/28-2/7- Mandatory Pre Registration Meetings for students wanting to take certain AP classes.

    2. 2/3 & 2/4- Career/Registration presentations (students only)

    3. 2/6- Parent Information Session (8:15 in Cafeteria)

    4. 2/6 - counselors available during FLEX for reg help (students only)

    5. 11th Illuminate Portal open from 2/7-2/14 for students to enter course requests

    6. Packets due to English teacher by 2/14.

  2.  Current 10th Graders:  

    1. 1/28-2/7- Mandatory Pre Registration Meetings for students wanting to take certain AP classes.

    2. 2/10 & 2/11- Career/Registration presentations (students only)

    3. 2/12- Parent Information Session (8:15 in Valhalla)

    4. 2/12- counselors available during FLEX for reg help (students only)

    5. 10th Illuminate Portal open from 2/14-2/21 for students to enter course requests

    6. Packets due to English teacher by 2/21.

  3. SPED/ELL:

    1. 2/19-2/20 - Counselors meet individually with SDC English and ELL classes to discuss registration and input classes.

  4. Current 9th Graders:  

    1. 1/28-2/7- Mandatory Pre Registration Meetings for students wanting to take certain AP classes.

    2. 2/24 & 2/25- Career/Registration  presentations (students only)

    3. 2/26- Parent Information Session (8:15 in Valhalla)

    4. 2/26- Counselors available during FLEX for reg help (students only)

    5. 9th Illuminate Portal open from 2/28-3/6 for students to enter course requests

    6. Packets due to English teacher by 3/6.

  5. Current 8th Graders (Horner):

    1. 3/6- Counselor presentations at Horner (students only)

    2. 3/12- Open House

    3. Packets due to 8th grade science teachers by 3/16.

    4. 8th Illuminate Portal open from 3/6-3/15 for students to enter course requests

  6. Registration Review:

    1. 3/2-3/27 – Counselors review all registration forms and transcripts.

    2. EXTENDED STUDENT OFFICE HOURS FOR REGISTRATION: Counselors are available to students during lunch each day, and after school Monday-Thursday during February and March.

LANGUAGE PLACEMENT EXAMS (CURRENT 8TH GRADERS ONLY)

CHINESE

  • TBD: Chinese placement tests will be held at Irvington High School.
  • Placement tests are for current 8th grade students that want to take Chinese level 2 or higher in 9th grade. Chinese must be your home language.
  • Students from Horner Junior High School will sign up with Ms. Lai, the school counselor, and indicate that they will take traditional character or simplified character version.
  • Non Horner students need to contact Mrs. Yan at dyan@fremont.k12.ca.us to sign up for the Chinese placement test.
  • Completing a placement test means that the student is committing to taking language in the 9th grade regardless of the results.
  • Students will know the level they are taking when they receive their schedule during MAZE Days (August).

SPANISH

  • 3/18/20: Spanish placement tests will be held at Irvington High School.
  • Placement tests are for current 8th grade students that want to take Spanish level 2 or higher in 9th grade. Spanish must be your home language.
  • Students from Horner Junior High School will sign up with Ms. Lai, the school counselor, and indicate that they will take Spanish 2 or Native Speaker Language version.
  • Non Horner JHS students need to contact Mr. Ballado aballado@fremont.k12.ca.us to sign up for the Spanish placement tests.
  • Completing a placement test means that the student is committing to taking language in the 9th grade regardless of the results.
  • Students will know the level they are taking when they receive their schedule during MAZE Days (August).

FRENCH 

  • 3/19/20: Placement tests will be held at Irvington High School.
  • Contact Dr. Fabienne Gurtz-Cayla at fgurtzcayla@fremont.k12.ca.us.
  • Placement tests are for current 8th grade students that want to take French level 2 or higher in 9th grade. French must be your home language.
  • Completing a placement test means that the student is committing to taking language in the 9th grade regardless of the results.
  • Students will know the level they are taking when they receive their schedule during MAZE Days (August).
