Information on PG&E potential Power Shutoff Advisory

10/9/19

5:00pm – FUSD schools will be open tomorrow (Thursday, October 10). PG&E's possible Public Safety Power Shutoff for areas of Fremont is scheduled for 8:00pm this evening. We will monitor conditions throughout the night and if a school loses power, we will cancel classes at that school for the day. Niles Elementary and Vallejo Mill Elementary are the only FUSD schools currently listed within the potential impact zones provided by PG&E. Please be advised that FUSD has no control over when and where shutoffs may occur and may not receive advance notice. Updates will be sent via Bright Arrow, School Loop and posted on the District website as soon as they become available.

1:15pm - All FUSD schools have power. We have been informed the possible Public Safety Power Shutoff for areas of Fremont has been pushed back until 8:00pm Wednesday evening. We are also expecting updated information regarding FUSD schools potentially impacted by the PSPS. Based on that information, we will make an announcement regarding whether or not schools will be open on Thursday as soon as possible.

7:15am - All FUSD schools are open. Areas of Fremont are listed in Phase 2 of PG&E's Public Safety Power Shutoff de-energization process may not begin until 1:00pm today. If any of our schools lose power, we will attempt to finish the school day as long as conditions remain safe for students and staff. A decision will be made later in the afternoon regarding opening of schools on Thursday. Updates will be sent via Bright Arrow, School Loop and on the District website.

10/8/19

Good Afternoon,

As you are probably aware, due to an expected 'Severe Wind Event' forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, PG&E has issued a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff advisory for Alameda County. Currently, Niles Elementary and Vallejo Mill Elementary are the only FUSD schools listed as impacted by any possible outages. We will continue to monitor conditions and will notify you of any changes, but please be advised that FUSD has no control over when and where these shutoffs may occur and may not receive advance notice.

There are no plans for school cancellations at this time. As of now, schools will be open on Wednesday. If there is a loss of power during the day, we will attempt to complete the school day as long as conditions are considered safe for our students and staff. In the event of a prolonged outage, a decision will be made whether to cancel school on Thursday and beyond.

We will provide updated information as soon as it becomes available through Bright Arrow, School Loop and the District website.
